Shadow Cast

 

Take your money and gold

Go on and grow old

I need none of your say

Keep dreaming that American way

A false hope to follow

A dream that will never come true

I learned this the day I met you

Beauty beyond any god

My eyes were deceived

Thought they caught a glimpse of heaven

But no instead they saw something else

Beyond fire and brimstone

I should have known

You were the devil in disguise

But no instead I was lost in your lies

Drowning in a sea of false beauty

That day you came to me

Flashed that smile

I thought my heart found a cure

But no instead you started a nightmare

One I am cannot fall asleep from

You turn your back on me

Casting a shadow

Leaving me lost in the cold

Jesus above looks down with regret

Here I am wishing we never met

But how could I forget someone like you

You give me a reason to carry on

To turn away too

Never to look back at you

I know one day your shadow will fade

Then I will never know why you stayed

Until that day finally comes true

Know I will always hate you
